* “Tron” (1982) is a hybrid film like no other. It was a unique film then
and now. It contained ground breaking computer animation and some
traditional cel animation. The
“computer world” effects scenes were a mix of live action black-and-white
65mm cinematography, in which human actors were immersed into
that environment. Those scenes were blown-up to Kodalith cels, then hand-painted, one cell at-a-time.
The computer, traditional and Kodalith footage were seemlessly combined for
the final print. For more
