Located on Beach Blvd. a short distance from the Garden Grove
Freeway and former Highway 39 Drive-In, this six-screen complex
opened in 1985 and was similar to the
Town Center in design, except
this theatre had two additional screens. An open and spacious lobby
lead patrons to the six screens in the complex, with
two large auditoriums acting as anchors.
The theatre didn’t run a lot of 70mm. “Young
Sherlock Holmes” (1985) and “Dick Tracy” (1990) were the only two
70mm
engagements this theatre ran. The theatre closed in 2000 when
Edwards filed for bankruptcy. It remained vacant for some years.
The structure still stands and some of the metal beams that divided
each auditorium can still be seen. It is now a popular auto parts
store.
