Built on a relatively small looking parcel of land, the Edwards
Crown Valley opened on
December 25,
1986.
This five-screen multiplex had a similar design to other Edwards
theatre complexes of the time, but was laid out horizontally against
a hillside behind the theatre. Patrons would enter the lobby, and
to see films in the various auditoriums, they would have to either
enter the main auditorium (with over 500-seats) straight ahead, or
start heading to the left. The rest of the auditoriums were down a
long hallway with windows facing Crown Valley Parkway.
70mm shows began in
1987 with “Stakeout.” There were a few more
70mm engagements through
1992.
In the 1990s,
Edwards opened the Kaleidoscope
Stadium 10 down the street and the Crown Valley was closed and
converted into a church.
